The Federation of Image Consultants (TFIC) was founded in 1988 by a consortium of Consultants, who wanted to set up professional standards and ethics for the Industry and provide a platform to encourage cooperation and sharing of information and expertise..

Members were invited to volunteer their services on various steering committees; executive officers and a president were elected and so the Federation was born.

A Code of Ethics was established and a Constitution set up, regular meetings were organized and a newsletter published. Discussions were opened with the prestigious City & Guilds of London Institute with the aim of establishing a qualification that would be universally recognized.

Many years of hard work and negotiation were to follow before the first awards were made to qualifying consultants in November 1995. The award was to be known as the joint TFIC and City & Guilds award in Image Consultancy and embodies a strict set of competencies, which are demonstrated by each consultant in the presence of an assessor.

Pat Scott Vincent was privileged to be President of TFIC at that time and was among the first consultants in the country to qualify for the award. and is currently a Fellow of TFIC and a life member

THE JOINT TFIC AND CITY & GUILDS AWARD
IN IMAGE CONSULTANCY

This is an internationally recognized award that is administered by TFIC in conjunction with the City & Guilds of London institute. The joint award is open to all suitably qualified members of TFIC and should be regarded as an essential part of your development.

It is not necessary to wait until you are qualified to join TFIC, who will welcome anyone interested in the profession, to join as an Affiliate member. This currently costs £80.00 per annum, plus a once only joining fee of £40.00, to cover the cost of materials sent out to new members.

The next step is to become an Associate Member, when you may use the appropriate TFIC Logo and the letters 'AMFIC' after your name. To qualify you need to take and pass, at least one module of the joint award. This can be any one of the following: Colour, Cosmetic Application, Female Style or Male Style. 

Colourflair is an Recognised Training Provider(RTP) with TFIC and the training you receive will more than equip you to successfully gain the appropriate modules of the joint award in Image Consultancy.

Completion of your training with Colourflair will ensure fast track access to take the first module of the Joint Award, with no qualifying period. Those trained by non approved training providers will experience delays and qualifying periods before acceptance, as standards need to be checked and evaluated.

 To progress to 'Master' status you will need to take two other modules of which Colour is compulsory. You will be individually assessed on your competence in accordance with a standard format. 

The Colourflair manuals make frequent reference to the "Standards of Competence" as they are called, with many tips on working practices, to enable you start working towards the award from day one.

There are expenses involved in taking the various modules of the Award so please check with the Federation about current rates.

When you have passed the Joint Award, you become a 'Master' of TFIC and are entitled to use the letters 'MFIC' after your name and you join an exclusive group of professionally qualified Image Consultants. 

The highest level it is possible to obtain in TFIC is a 'Fellow'. This honour is awarded by TFIC to those 'Members' who have showed a significant contribution to the development of the Image profession, over a number of years. 'Fellows' may use the letters 'FFIC' after their names.

We recommend all our students to join The Federation of Image Consultants and an application form and information pack will be included with your course materials.
